Philadelphia car insurance requirements state that you must, by law, have at least the following policies in place to drive a car:

- Property Damage Liability (PDL) – This represents the maximum amount your insurance company will pay out for any damage to property caused by your accident including all vehicle damage and non-medical expenses caused by the accident. The state legal minimum coverage required is $5,000.
These figures actually represent the absolute minimum you would need however under most circumstances you would want significantly more coverage than this.
